UNEARTHED

Award: Rudolph E. Lee Professional Promise Award Nominee

Unearthing the City is an office building in Manhattan that makes a strong connection to the community by elevating an open terrace to the raised park of the High Line. Its design inspiration is based off of a legend of how the city developed, that where the bedrock of Manhattan is closer to the surface, the skyline reaches greater heights. Our building represents this condition with a plinth, expressing the bedrock through horizontally shifting elements, and with a monolithic volume, expressing a response to the height of the plinth with vertically shifting elements.
